Sustainability

Practical solutions, made with care

There is something satisfying about a simple fix that keeps a useful item in your life. At Syraat Solutions, we bring that same care to our products, our materials and the way we work.

Our approach reflects the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. [1]

Quality at the heart of every solution

Product quality comes first. We focus on fit, finish and purpose, with the material meeting the product needs.

We use PLA-based filament. Its base polymer comes from renewable plant sources, while finished filaments may also contain additives for colour and performance. [5] We consider these characteristics alongside each product’s intended use.

Careful material use reflects SDG 12.2, which promotes the efficient use of natural resources. [1]

Keep more of what you already own

Sometimes, a small part is all that is needed to make an everyday item useful again. Our range includes:

These targeted solutions help customers maintain the belongings they value. This reflects the waste-prevention aims of SDG 12.5 and Defra’s waste hierarchy. [1, 2]

Made to order, with care

Our manufacturing choices follow three simple principles:

  • Make to order. We manufacture what customers choose, helping to limit unsold stock.

  • Keep support material low. We deliberately favour designs that need little or no temporary support during printing.

  • Use each reel fully. We use our filament reels through to completion.

FDM manufacturing builds a component layer by layer. Compared with machining it from a solid block, this can reduce the material removed and discarded during shaping. Overall environmental performance also depends on energy use, materials and production reliability. [4]

These choices reflect SDG 12.2 and SDG 12.5, alongside the resource-efficiency aims of SDG 9.4, within SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. [1, 3]

Packaging that protects your purchase

We use paper cushioning and mailing bags to help your order reach you in good condition. After unpacking:

  • Reuse the paper cushioning where possible.

  • Recycle clean, dry paper according to local collection guidance.

  • Check the mailing bag instructions and confirm local acceptance before disposal. [8]

EN 13432 addresses industrially compostable packaging; home compostability requires separate evidence. [7] Clear disposal guidance reflects SDG 12.5 and SDG 12.8, supporting waste reduction and informed choices. [1]

Small steps, continued improvement

Lean engineering and Kaizen—continuous improvement—guide how we work: simpler processes, less waste and better use of resources.

Our next planned step is to measure printing electricity consumption with an energy monitor. This will give us a starting point for identifying improvements. Energy use and production waste are not yet quantified.

Measuring and improving are principles within ISO 14001, the international environmental management standard, and relate to the resource-efficiency aims of SDG 9.4. [3, 9]

Clear information for confident choices

Useful information should be easy to understand. We aim for clear, specific environmental statements, reflecting ISO 14021 and the UK CMA Green Claims Code. [10, 11]

PLA’s plant origin does not mean finished products are suitable for home composting or ordinary household plastic recycling. A recycling service must explicitly accept the material. [6, 7] Explaining these distinctions supports SDG 12.8 and helps you make informed choices. [1]
